Chemical biology
Research Section
The section for Chemical Biology and Nanobioscience is at the interface between synthetic chemistry, biology and biophysics. We focus on understanding biological and chemical phenomena at the nano-scale and explore the application of this knowledge to biomedicine. There are five separate groups within the section. Research topics include:
- Spatio–temporal organization of biological systems
- Interfacing biomolecules with solid surfaces, including nanomaterials and nanowires
- Chemical, biophysical and structural aspects of cell signaling (GPCR)
- Self-assembling systems
- Chemistry of peptides, proteins and carbohydrates
- Combinatorial chemistry
- Artificial enzymes
- Cellulose derived chemicals and fuels
- Peptide medicinal chemistry.
