5 Ph.D. defenses in 2020

Ph.D. defense

2020 was a very challenging year, however, there were some silver linings, as we celebrated 5 Ph.D. graduations.

Just before corona restriction closed UCPH down for physical meetings, Luca Silviolli defended his Ph.D. thesis on March 10th entitled 'Rational Electrocatalyst  Design; Theory and Experiments Synergies for Hydrocarbon Oxidation and Oxygen Reduction Reactions'.

By the second time, all activities had become virtual, and Anders Westergaard Jensen defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled 'Oxygen Electrocatalysis for Sustainable Energy Conversion' on October 1st.

Tugce Kutlusoy and Spyridon Divanis have both been part of the EU-ITN project ELCOREL.
On November 13th Spiros had a virtual defense of his Ph.D. thesis 'Catalyst design for efficient water electrolysis: Theoretical and experimental approaches to oxygen evolution reaction'.

Tugce had her virtual Ph.D. defense entitled 'Theoretical Electrocatalyst Design for Oxygen Evolution Reaction' on November 27th.

We ended the year with a virtual defense by Thomas Batchelor December 17th on his Ph.D. thesis 'Tailoring High-Entropy Surfaces - Computational Models for the Rational Design of Catalysts'.

Congratulations to all of them. It has been a great pleasure and privilege to work together with them and we wish them good luck in their future careers.
